Agriculture

Cewefia recognizes agriculture as a vital sector for empowering communities, ensuring food security, and promoting sustainable livelihoods in Ghana. As a women-led non-governmental organization committed to social and economic development, Cewefia integrates agriculture into its programs to support marginalized groups, especially women and youth, who form the backbone of agricultural production but face significant challenges such as limited access to resources, technology, and markets.

Cewefia’s agricultural initiatives focus on enhancing productivity and sustainability. The organization provides training on climate-smart agricultural practices to help farmers adapt to the impacts of climate change, such as erratic rainfall and soil degradation. This includes techniques like agroforestry, conservation farming, and efficient water management. By promoting environmentally friendly practices, Cewefia ensures that agricultural activities contribute to long-term ecological balance while boosting yields.

Empowering women in agriculture is central to Cewefia’s mission. The organization facilitates access to financial resources, such as microloans and savings schemes, enabling women to invest in farming tools, inputs, and value-added processing. Cewefia also supports women-led cooperatives to improve bargaining power, reduce post-harvest losses, and enhance market access, ensuring fair returns for their labor and produce.

In addition, Cewefia promotes youth engagement in agriculture by offering skills development and entrepreneurship training to make farming an attractive and viable career. By introducing innovative tools and technologies, the organization encourages young people to view agriculture as a business opportunity.

Through advocacy, capacity building, and resource mobilization, Cewefia contributes to a more inclusive and sustainable agricultural sector. These efforts not only enhance food security and economic stability for families but also strengthen community resilience and contribute to Ghana’s broader development goals.
