Josephine Opare-Addo

She is the Project Manager and the Gender Equality and Social Inclusion Officer of CEWEFIA. She holds a Master’s Degree in Project Management and a first degree in Marketing. Josephine is experienced in gender and SGBV issues as a result of her working directly with fish workers and all actors on the fisheries value chain in the Central and western Regions. She was instrumental in the development of the Fisheries Gender Policy which was developed by the USAID/SFMP Project. Josephine is well versed in the use of Competency-Based Economies through Formation of Entrepreneurs which is very participative and action oriented to conduct trainings. She trains fishers in business management, fish handling and packaging, financial literacy and savings using the VSLA model, marine eco-system conservation to protect fish stocks and habitat. Josephine is involved in the advocacy to stop Illegal, Unregulated and Unreported (IUU) fishing. Josephine trains fishers on how to identify Gender-Based Violence issues and to prevent it. She is also involved in community and mass media sensitization on issues like Gender based violence, Child Labor and Trafficking and healthy fish for consumption through the Safe fish Certification and Licensing Scheme.
